What does happen is ordinary for any site that measures its traffic and carries advertising: Google sets cookies to count visits and to choose which ads you see. You can switch that off — the links are below, and the site works fine without cookies.

AnalyticsGoogle Analytics records which pages are opened, the city a visit comes from, the type of device and how the visitor arrived. It is used to see which listings are worth keeping current.

Opting outAnalytics can be blocked with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, and cookies can be cleared or refused in your browser settings.

RestaurantsListing details — name, address, phone number, opening hours — are business contact information published for the public, not personal data about an individual. Even so, if you own the business and want the page gone, ask us and it goes.
